I’m SO excited to finally be able to reveal the cover of my next feel-good fiction novel, THE LUCKY SISTERS!

I want to give a shout-out to the fabulous cover designer, Nikki Townsend, who got this cover right away! She’s a freaking genius.

This book idea began a few years ago now when one of my fave friends, fellow novelist

Anthea Hodgson

and I were rooming together for the Mandurah Writers Festival. Now you see, unlike me, Anthea is a proper grown-up who keeps up to date with current affairs, so that morning while I was lying in bed - probably aimlessly scrolling my phone - she was reading the news on hers.

The night before she’d alerted me to the news that Lisa Marie Presley (Elvis’s daughter) had suffered a cardiac arrest (aka heart attack) and that she was in a critical condition. I’m not a huge Elvis fan but obviously I thought that very sad. She was only 54! That morning, we learned that Lisa Marie had died.

Over breakfast, Anthea came upon an article that suggested there might be a genetic fault that caused not only Lisa Marie and Elvis to die young, but also other members of his family. She said, ‘This sounds like one of your novels.’ And while at first I just laughed that off, as she ate her scrambled eggs on toast and me my smashed avo, I started to think.

Now if I say much more, I’m going to give away the whole plot of the book, but it was during that conversation over breakfast that my Lucky sisters were born.

Nora and Stevie Lucky are twins who were adopted at birth - although they have hugely different personalities, they’re close and the only thing they’ve ever disagreed on is searching for their biological parents.

As someone who never knew my dad growing up and was always curious about him, I understood Nora’s desire to find their birth mother more than I did Stevie’s not to. But being a writer is about putting yourselves in other people’s shoes and so I that’s what I did.
